Our captain isn’t going anywhere, Michael Bradley has reportedly signed a new deal to stay with Toronto FC.

Of course, he won’t be making as much as he would if TFC won the MLS Cup. Instead, he will be making max TAM money on a 2-year deal.

Joining the Reds back in 2014, Bradley has helped create a culture of winning at BMO Field. As captain, TFC has won an MLS Cup, a Supporters Shield, and 3 Canadian Championships. Bradley was also an essential piece of the team that won the treble in 2017. He helped stabilize the backline and made our midfield virtually unstoppable.

Now everyone loves Michael Bradley. He’s hard not to love. His passion on the pitch and his love for the city make him a great captain. The issue with Michael Bradley was always paying a defensive midfielder DP money in a league that only allows 3 DP’s. TFC needs attacking help which meant they needed Michael Bradley to take a pay cut.

That is exactly what he did. Michael Bradley has signed back on for 2 more years at max TAM money with an option at the end of the deal. Now how much is max TAM money? That is still being worked out in the new CBA. What it means for Toronto FC is that we get our captain back and open up a DP spot.
